High Society
Entrance. / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

High Society is an exploration of the history and culture of recreational drugs and their use around the world. The brief called for six main areas, capable of displaying rare historical books and prints, alongside contemporary art objects, projections and av pieces.

The Wellcome Gallery was unified by a sea of process blue carpet, reflected in the captions and other graphic material. A series of white three metre high wall arrangements allowed for sub dividing areas, free from the existing architecture, whilst providing for wall hung works. Benches were mounted off the walls to support cases in solid ash with acrylic hoods for display of books and small objects.
